Eat all the fruits!

It's been long enough since I did a check-in on fruits and vegetables that I may have missed a thing or two. But lately I have had:

  • Strawberries, straight and on a dutch baby.
  • Passionfruit, in a Hawaiian Sun drink.
  • Rainier cherries, my favorite, showing up at the farmers' market a couple weeks earlier than usual.
  • Plum jam from the SO's brother's wife, picked up when we went down south.
  • Guava, in a pastelito bought at the farmers' market yesterday. Technically it was a guava and cheese pastelito, but I couldn't really detect any cheese.
  • Blueberries, which I have turned into pie today. I don't generally like commercial fruit pies because they taste over-sugared to me. But I can get nice fresh berries at the farmers' market and then cut the amount of added sugar way down.

That takes me to 50, just past halfway through the year. Things will speed up again for a while now, as there are plenty more fruits at the market now that I haven't gotten to yet.

Master list here.

I made a cherry pie the other day, & last night my mother made a peach cobbler. All store-bought fruit, but as you say, being able to control the amount of sugar counts for a lot.
