Wild goose chase

As we were heading down to the local diner to pick up our dinner order, we saw a bald eagle flying by at top speed in pursuit of a goose.

This was a bit of a surprise for me because (a) I didn't know bald eagles hunted other birds and (b) bald eagles usually aren't usually seen anywhere near here. They typically stick to stretches of the local rivers well away from human habitation.

I guess that's our story about wildlife getting braver due to the pandemic reducing human activity.

We've had evidently an upswell of the Wild Turkeys locally, including some confrontations with them by drivers as they decide to waddle down the streets to go and forage as a flock.

I've been told that the songbird population is up, as less people are letting their cats out (a good thing, I do not approve of letting housecats our in urban environments).

And I've heard the flocks of Canadian Geese passing overhead a number of times in the early hours so the population of those seems to be on the rise (also a good thing).
