New year, new things

Congratulations, if you're reading this. You've survived 2020. I know some of you are holding your breath until the 20th, but give yourself a quick pat on the back for making it this far.

I have two resolutions to start the year:

1) Eat at least 100 different fruits and vegetables. Someone mentioned in an Ask a Manager thread early last year that they were doing this, and I decided then that I wanted to steal that for this year. By a happy coincidence, this is the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables. (Which I learned from the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, oddly enough.) Fruit or vegetable #1: My customary breakfast orange.

2) The last few years, it's become a widespread habit to say that any bad thing is just so characteristic of that year. I really don't want to encourage 2021 to top 2020, so going forward, I will make a point of saying at least to myself that any good thing that happens in the next 12 months is emblematic of 2021.

Also, not an official resolution, but I think I've come up with an idea to channel my frustration at not being able to find a use for myself as a volunteer in helping run cons. (I mean, I've been volunteering, but no luck being accepted.) It'll work better starting up when we're closer to returning to in-person cons, and it's going to take a lot of prep work, so more on that later this year.
