In-person conventions are technically back

The first post-pandemic in-person sf con I know of in the US is happening this weekend: FantaSci, about military sf, in Durham, NC. Precautions are being taken, but if I know fans, there is plenty of maskless socializing going on where it can be gotten away with. I hope everyone is okay.

And the anime convention IkkiCon is happening next weekend.

I found this out because I was talking last week to someone who is going down to Austin to work on it. She says, it's being held essentially because the organizers couldn't get out of the hotel contract. The best they could get was a one-year deferment, & cross fingers that the state of affairs would allow actually holding it at that time. My best of luck to them.
