Draft schedules

I've already gotten my draft schedule for Chicon 8. Getting them out over a month before the con is good even for a regular local con; for a travelling convention like a Worldcon, it's just short of a miracle.

Exact times, panelists, etc. are subject to change, so I won't post it yet.

I'm glad you realized what an achievement that is. I had people insisting to me for Westercon 74 that Real Conventions have the entire detailed program schedule including every panel, every panelists, and every room assignment completed at least three months in advance, and six months is more likely. When I asked for details about which Real Conventions they meant, I only heard crickets chirping in the silence that followed

Well, I finally got the e-mail to say that I'm not going to be on program.

I'm not hugely surprised or disappointed, because they didn't accept any of my program-item ideas, and of the various items I perused, none of them were in the "I must be on this!" category for me. There were a few I might have added something to, but I'm not even sure in all cases that it was relevant to what they wanted : for instance, an item on film sound quality, where I proposed to give some historical and technical background on optical sound recording, and possibly even bring in the sound section of a 16mm projector.

I can't complain too much, since the Fan Tables & Exhibits folks managed to find me a 10×20 foot booth.
