3/6/2023 Question of the day

Start of the British Pie Week! What is your favourite savoury pie? How about your favourite sweet pie? Is a pasty lid on top of a casserole really a pie?

1. Not sure, don't get to eat them very often

2. Chocolate silk or thereabout

3. You mean pot pie? Don't care, just let me eat it

(Which I might not be able to anymore, it's hard to find pies that don't have dairy ingredients in the crust. And of course chocolate silk typically has cream in it.)

If it doesn't have a bottom crust, it's not a pie. I will not be budged on this. A crock of stew with a square of puff pastry on top is not a pot pie, no matter how many restaurateurs try to pretend it is. (I specify bottom crust rather than double crust because I often make a meat pie with a mashed potato topping rather than a top crust.)
