Stairway to Hell

One of the neat things about watching foreign TV week in and week out is that you get to learn a whole lot about a culture other than your own. For instance, thanks to Magia Record the last couple of weeks and Hanako-kun this week, I have learned that Japan has a collective phobia of staircases which manifests as the sort of urban legend which ends with a person being snatched away forever by supernatural forces.
