Eating local

In a Brexit thought experiment, Bloomberg looks at what British people would eat if the UK was unable to import food. Also handy for writers of apocalyptic novels.

There would be some notable gaps, but an overall nutritious diet seems like it would still be within reach.

It really does look like everyone would be eating a hearty Victorian diet. I don't know what they'll do without their tea and coffee, though.

In the summer of 1939, Arthur C Clarke was employed in carefully labelling all of the tea chests at the East India Docks, & sending them off to railway baggage rooms around Britain (with a meticulous list of what went where), because somebody had realized that a single bomb hit could cripple the entire British nation.
