One of Phosphor's hobbies is dropping toys into the water dish, and then batting them around and fishing them out. (And then sometimes bringing them to me, still soaked.)
Another of his hobbies is finding new small objects that he can pick up, carry around, or otherwise manipulate. Usually he will bring them to me, or at least leave them next to one of the places I habitually sit, to see if he has discovered a new toy that we can play fetch with.
In this case, he somehow found a pair of small needle-nose pliers and went straight to dropping them in the water dish.
I've been saying for a while that he's mechanically inclined, but this is the first time I've caught him with an actual tool.
