  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 33 features AnimeNEXT demonstrating how not to do facility relations. Also, points to anyone who noticed that the e-mail said issue 32. Oops.
  • 4/14 anime column, closing out with the finale of Tokyo 24th Ward (it stinks) and a few thoughts on the present state of anime.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 32 has both actual news and a link to an article with some useful tips. Possibly this is the last time I mention Anime NYC and Omicron! We'll see!
  • 4/7 anime column didn't get posted, and as usual I don't know why. But all you really need to know is that Attack on Titan is still awesome and it's definitely going on my Hugo ballot someday, if and when someone manages to actually finish the adaptation.

I just finished writing up my last post for Amazing Stories. Going to go be depressed for a bit now. Then I'll probably watch a couple premieres tomorrow, because there are shows this season I'm interested in watching for fun.

Is up today, with the non-joking news that my time with Amazing Stories is coming to an end shortly. (It should have been this week, but I wanted to finish up the winter shows I'm following, which means a couple more weeks.)

It was my choice to go, though I'm feeling a bit depressed about it. It does help a little to look at how many premieres set in generic fantasy worlds I won't have to watch this time around.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 31 has no big news, just small items and some reminders about staying healthy that I figure to probably run every year around this time.
  • 3/31 anime column, where a grand total of two of the five shows I've been following this season manage to end on time.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 30 picks up a story from the NYT where women have, once again, just started going to TV-related events.
  • 3/24 anime column, where I have to join the growing crowd admitting that Ranking of Kings has picked up a certain amount of yikes.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 28 is mostly about all the various sorts of international fan drama swirling around the 2023 Worldcon. I managed to restrain myself from adding an all-out editorial, but there are definitely opinions in there.
  • 3/10 anime column at least had 4 good episodes to help cheer me up.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 26, where the primary story is that Anime NYC was okay after all.
  • 2/24 anime column, in which I did not forget to add a commentary on this week's Tokyo 24th Ward, but I did forget to say that it had skipped this week.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 25, in which it looks like international travel is going to suck for a while. The con I mentioned a couple days ago is in the listings with its proper location, looking normal and acting like nothing's happened.
  • 2/17 anime column. I'm just about ready to admit I should have gone with Tribe Nine instead of Tokyo 24th Ward.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 19 is partly the result of yet another evening spent digging through state corporation databases. Really, if I had to name the one thing I least expected about starting a newsletter about conventions, it would be how much time I've spent doing that.
  • 1/6 anime column is the traditional look back at the past year. TL;DR: everyone please please please give Odd Taxi a look.

...is up right here, what there is of it anyway.

  • SMOF News, volume 1, issue 14, published just a little too soon to pick up the latest Westercon news.
  • 12/2 anime column, in which 50% of this week's anime episodes involve evil potions being forced down someone's throat. I live for weird coincidences like this.
