135 days to go
Jun. 21st, 2020 08:29 pmCoronavirus is back on the rise in Oregon. This is partly due to one big outbreak centered on a Pentacostal church far from Portland-- it jumped the gun on getting back to large gatherings, and a Pentacostal service is pretty much an ideal respiratory-virus-spreading event-- but the overall percentage of positive tests is back up to where it was in April.
So an order requiring masks to be worn in indoor public spaces in the counties with higher spread is coming into effect on Thursday. This includes the greater Portland area. We are prepared. I got a pack of BlackStrap's "civil masks" a while back and am finding them very comfortable. The SO has found that any kind of mask with ear loops is uncomfortable, but has now acquired a patriotic neck gaiter to use instead.
On the bright side, it was nice to wake up Monday morning to the news that my trans friends in the US officially have some civil rights. I hope it's making life a little less stressful for you all.
I find I'm starting to get used to having the extra time I have on weekdays. I'm still taking walks, but they're still shorter than my commute was. I'm starting to think that if I was given the chance to work from home permanently... I might take it.
