Free to roam (a bit)
Apr. 21st, 2021 06:15 pmIt is one year, one month, one week, and one day since my office shut down. It's also just over two weeks since my vaccination, so as far as the CDC is concerned I'm sufficiently immunized for now.
I'm conscious of the fact that a lot of people are still not vaccinated and I am still a potential disease vector, so I have no problem with continuing to observe proper precautions. But I think I can expand my activities a little now. I figure I can start to do less-essential errands, take short mass transit rides, and get food from places where I need to wait indoors for my order.
Things which are still out: dining around strangers, even outdoors; movie theaters and performing arts venues; long rides on buses or trains. Maybe I can try riding the entire MAX system again when we reach the herd immunity benchmark.
I don't have any immediate plans, but the weekend after the next is when the full summer version of the local farmers' market starts. I think that would be worth hopping on the bus and seeing if my farecard still works.
