I don't want to link to the full piece because it contains THE spoiler for practically all of
Attack on Titan. But this quote from a high-profile review of this week's episode should illustrate a bit of why I think AoT is good, and a bit of why I would desperately like to see more reviewers who are familiar with sf engaging with it:
It's just really weird for me to consider that the Eldians of this universe have at different times occupied the positions of the ruthless conquerors of the world as well as the marginalized and dehumanized minorities.
(This is not a white person being surprised that the world is complicated, BTW. The author has identified themself more than once as nonwhite.)
