Curmudgeons' Day: What is a curmudgeon? Do you know any curmudgeons? What do you think of them? Today is also Freethinkers' Day. Do you think a curmudgeon might be just a freethinker?

Lately it seems to me that "curmudgeon" and "freethinker" are just words used to excuse people being jerks. Maybe they always were and I'm just seeing it that way more because I'm becoming a cranky old person myself.
