Sausage, vegetable, and ravioli soup

1 lb Italian sausage
1/2 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
6 cups beef stock
1/2 tsp basil
14.5 oz can chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup parsley
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
9 oz cheese ravioli
Also calls for a zucchini, but I hate zucchini.
I took the "Serves 4" on this recipe to mean that I didn't have to get the big soup pot out. About halfway through I discovered that I needed it after all. This produced more soup than any recipe I've tried yet other than the minestrone. Serves only four if they're clones of the SO, maybe.
Capsaicin does not generally agree with me, but I figured the cheese would help moderate the contribution from the sausage enough that I could handle this. It wound up just within my tolerance.
