petrea_mitchellI said the coolest thing I ran across at SPIEL.digital was an entire virtual world originally put together for another con. Well, they're firing it up again!
Castle TriCon 2021 will be held February 26-27, at hours that allow much of the Western Hemisphere to participate, and it is completely free. Even if you're not into boardgames that much, it's a cool technological platform to go check out. Like Gather.town, you move an avatar around in a virtual world and go into video chat when you approach other people. Unlike Gather, it's a higher-resolution, 3D world where you can do things fly around looking for stickers on the underside of floating islands for a scavenger hunt. (The games themselves, though, are played on another platform like Tabletopia.)
