Here we are at Memorial Day weekend again, and here I am going to PaizoCon Online again. Paizo has committed to keeping a significant online component to the convention even after it returns to being an in-person con. OTOH, I expect Enfilade! will be back next year and I'll be going to that the same weekend. On the other other hand, PaizoCon typically continues into Memorial Day itself, where Enfilade! ends on a Sunday, so perhaps I might be catching the last day of PaizoCon from home.

In the meantime, though, there is still a pandemic on. This article has an eye-opening way of summarizing the situation: While overall infection rates are down significantly in the US, the rate for unvaccinated people is as bad now as it was over the winter.

This explains what's going on in Oregon. Even as we're almost to the 70%-of-adults-vaccinated goal where the governor is going to lift capacity restrictions, hospitals like this one in Bend are still being flooded with unvaccinated patients. Bend is the second largest individual city in Oregon, but it's far away from the Portland metropolitan area, out in the rural, conservative, and yes, less-vaccinated part of the state.
