Take a Walk Outdoors Day: Is being outdoors important to you? How often do you spend time outside/in nature? Do you have easy access to parks or walking trails or other natural areas (e.g. the beach)? Do you feel any benefit if you make the effort to go out into nature? Do you try to get outside regularly? Depending on where you live, January might not be the best month for marking Take a Walk Outdoors Day – do you find it more difficult to venture outdoors in the winter?
Yeah, January is not the best time to be out walking in the Portland area. When I started working from home and replaced my daily bike rides to and from transit with walks around the neighborhood, I was worried I would lose my motivation to keep going when winter weather closed in. But somehow I'm still doing it. Part of it is that at this point, my body is so used to exercise that I feel worse if I don't do any. Having the SO along for the afternoon walk is helping too.
I feel less of a need to specifically get into nature on a regular basis, but my usual route goes through the local park, so maybe it's just because I'm already getting a small regular dose of nature.
