Crowdfunding Day: Did you know it dates back to the 19th century although the modern resurgence dates from the mid 1990s? Have you ever donated to a crowdfund? Have you ever asked people to donate to you?

I did know that it dated back to the 1800s, although I didn't know the modern resurgence went back to the 1990s.

I donate to crowdfunding campaigns occasionally. The SO, on the other hand, has a steady stream of Kickstarter rewards coming in.

I did once run a little funding campaign on Indiegogo, mainly to prove to myself there was no hope for it (which turned out to be correct).
