Snow day

No, that's not a coronavirus joke, it actually snowed yesterday! In March! After a whole winter of no measurable snow, which is not unusual in the Portland area!

I had plans for an expedition across town to an indoor mini-golf place. I've been meaning to go visit it again ever since its renovation last year, and it seemed safe to go even with the great incipient hunkering down, as the mini-golf places have always made a point of sanitizing their clubs between uses and mini-golf is not generally an activity that involves standing close to other people. But when my neighborhood has an inch of snow on every unpaved surface, I can count on the other side of town having that plus ice.

So instead, we were responsible adults and stocked up on less-perishable groceries so we won't have to go out much in the immediate feature. Phooey.

How about some pictures of sleeping animals?

Here's Marlene, Phosphor, and Monty on a sunny day in January.

Marlene, Phosphor, and Monty in a sunbeam

I had Presidents' Day off, so I went to the zoo, just to see more cats in sunbeams.

Cheetahs in a sunbeam

Okay, that's not entirely true. Right next door to the cheetahs, there were dogs in a sunbeam.

Two painted dogs

These are African painted dogs. The zoo had three of them, and then about a year ago, one of them had a dozen puppies. I'd been wondering if they'd been sent off to other zoos yet, but the answer appears to be no.

Lots of painted dogs
