The upswing, week 16
May. 9th, 2021 07:58 pmAll the local rhododendrons were blooming on Monday. Later in the week we added irises.
Oregon's case count has plateaued and indoor dining is on its way back again. I keep wondering, who actually wants to go back to indoor dining that badly while the pandemic is still on? There's much noise and excitement this week because the CDC has finally updated its guidelines to emphasize aerosol transmission, but it seems like it's been known about and accepted for months. Which is part of why indoor dining is one of the first things to be shut down when case counts go up.
The world's hotspot now is India. An Indian teammate of mine broke down during pre-meeting chatting this week when the topic came up. Her family's fine so far, but she's reached the point of just trying to avoid news and social media.
At a couple of past jobs, I've worked with people who were based in India. I've been thinking about them a lot lately, hoping they're okay, and realizing that statistically speaking, probably not all of them are.
