Fruit and vegetable check-in

As expected, the list grew much more slowly these last couple months. But there are a few things to report, and berry season is coming.

• White onions and gold potatoes, in a batch of Irish stew.
• Arugula, in a Burgerville seasonal special burger. They didn't bring back the deep-fried asparagus this year, sadly.
• Gold sweet potato in a batch of Hawaiian-style stew. It calls for a large sweet potato, and this is the largest variety I've seen yet. This cooks up to almost the exact same color as pineapple chunks, leading to an interesting eating experience when the stew contains both of them.
• Meyer lemon and lime, in the single-serve cheesecake a couple weeks ago.
• Banana and jackfruit, in a sweet lumpia from the Filipino barbecue cart.
• String beans and red bell pepper, in a stir-fry vegetable mix I used for yakisoba this past weekend. I actually hate string beans, but I'll put up with them if they're surrounded by enough things I do like.
