True tales of 911

A few Saturdays ago, I was waiting for a bus when I saw a bus go by on the opposite side of the street. The display on the back of the bus which normally shows the bus number was flashing, one word at a time:

HELP!
CALL
911

I'd heard once from a bus driver that the sign could be set to display something like that, but I never thought I'd actually get to see it.

So I called 911 and explained the situation. And... that was that. Nothing in the local press about a bus getting hijacked or anything. I hope someone just bumped the emergency button by mistake.

When I got home I said to the SO that I'd revised my definition of whether my day was going well to not having any further contact with emergency services. I actually managed to go two weeks and a day, and then Sunday before last, the SO had a recurrence of June's medical problem which wound up with another trip to the ER.

The SO was released the same day, but was a few days bouncing back from it, and that is part of why last week was so busy and stressful.

Anyway, my 911-less streak currently stands at 8 days (assuming nothing happens today). Let's see if I can beat the previous one!
