It is almost two months since my whole workplace was sent home to telecommute. This means it's just over two months since I tried the country captain chicken stew recipe, and yet the dishwasher still smells like curry powder.

Your local newspaper's handy guide to which states are opening and which aren't says that Oregon is remaining closed for now. This is a bit misleading. A lot of stores which would have had to close under Washington or California's rules have been allowed to remain open here. Malls had to close, as well as high-touch businesses such as hair salons, but other retail stores could stay open provided they enforced distancing rules.

For that matter, the office where I would usually be working is still officially open, though upper management has made it clear that anyone who isn't a security guard had better only be going in to pick up something essential that they left behind there.

In late March, management was telling us to not count on being back in the office before June. June is looking pretty optimistic now.

At least the weather is nice for a bit. Last week's cold has abruptly given way to temperatures in the 80s. (Tomorrow, though, the forecast is 67F with thunderstorms.)
