Once or twice a year, I get to imagining what it would be like to go visit Disney World if we could afford to stay for long enough to really see the whole place (1 week plus) at the high-end resort hotels (currently starting from around $700/night in the off-season). My personal pick would be the Polynesian Village Resort, partly for the theming and partly for being conveniently located to all the monorails.

The more realistic version of the dream is staying for 5-6 days at the Pop Century, which is one of the value resorts and has a Skyliner station (the Skyliner being the new aerial tram connecting some parts of WDW).

Usually this travel daydream comes on in January. I suppose it's happening now because I'm stuck at home like it's the winter.

The SO wants to drive there again if we do go sometime.

...I guess I've never gotten around to writing about the time we drove from one corner of the contiguous US to the opposite one. I should do that.

$700/night! In the off-season! OMG.

I've been to Disney Land in CA as a child. Twice, I think, while visiting my grandparents who lived nearby. I enjoyed it. As an adult I've never had much desire to go back nor to go to Disney World which is closer to where I now live.

From the link, the first one looks like a nice hotel. But still, for that price, no way. Might as well go to actual Polynesia!
The 2nd hotel looks quite fine too, and the price makes much more sense.

Now I'm trying to figure out which of the resorts my sister & I stayed at when we accompanied our aunt & uncle to a trade show at Disney World some 20+ years ago. It was on the monorail & had a main building with an enormous central atrium. (Unfortunately, we didn't get as much opportunity as we had hoped to see the sites & experience the attractions, because both my sister & my aunt were unwell much of the time we were there.) Being able to write off a stay there as a business expense is a definite advantage.

Definitely the "Contemporary". That A-frame construction is quite memorable, even though we stayed in the "Garden Wing".
